Abstract

The integration of entrepreneurship and innovation into medical education has been recognized as a strategy for developing competencies that are essential for healthcare professionals. In this context, university business incubators provide an environment that fosters the integration of education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This study aimed to report the implementation of a Pre-Acceleration Program developed through a partnership between the Medical School at the University of Uberaba (Uniube) and its business incubator (Unitecne). This descriptive experience report describes the implementation of a Pre-Acceleration Program integrated into the Health and Society course. The program was conducted in two editions during 2025 and employed active learning methodologies, workshops, mentoring sessions, Lean Canvas business modeling, and training in pitch and pitch deck development, culminating in a Demo Day where projects were evaluated by a panel of experts from the innovation ecosystem. A total of 115 medical students participated, organized into teams that developed 12 innovative projects. A reduction in students' initial resistance between the first and second editions of the program, as well as greater engagement throughout the activities, was observed. The projects were evaluated during the Demo Day. The initiative also generated institutional impact, encouraging the expansion of the program to other health-related undergraduate courses. Overall, the Pre-Acceleration Program proved to be a feasible strategy for integrating innovation and entrepreneurship into medical education, bringing students closer to the innovation ecosystem while broadening their professional perspectives. In addition to fostering the development of entrepreneurial competencies, the initiative demonstrated strong potential for replication across other undergraduate programs.
