Abstract

This research aimed to identify the main challenges faced by basic education teachers and the improvement actions proposed in scientific studies. Forty-three articles were analyzed, selected according to criteria of relevance, quality, and relevance to the topic. The results indicate that teaching challenges are multiple and interdependent, influenced by structural, pedagogical, formative, and contextual factors. The literature points to a broader analytical scope, including initial and continuing education, precarious working conditions, the impacts of COVID-19, demands for pedagogical innovation, professional well-being, and sociopolitical barriers. Proposals for improvement include teacher training, strengthening infrastructure, curriculum review, professional development, and institutional support. Limitations include the use of a single database and the concentration of research in specific contexts. The conclusion is that these challenges require integrated responses involving public policies and training initiatives.
