The transformations that have been taking place in contemporary society as a result of advances in communication and information and globalisation processes, among others, have led to changes in people's way of life, in society as a whole, including educational spaces. This article refers to a survey of teachers working in basic education, with the aim of finding out and analysing how they perceive their quality of life in relation to teaching. The theoretical, methodological and analytical foundations of the research are situated in the field of Cultural Studies, using the concepts of representation and regulation by culture as tools for analysis. The analyses suggest that teachers' representations of quality of life are linked to lifestyles and socio-environmental issues, especially in the context of work, with indications of work regulation through monitoring, control and demands, leading teachers to physical, mental and emotional exhaustion, with impacts on their quality of life.
